The Animal Genetics Division of INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique), France, has one opening for permanent research position at the junior research scientist level (CR2).

Deadline for application is March 3, 2014.

Complete profile, information on the position  on how to apply can be found at:

Key activities and required skills

Traits characterizing adaptation to changing environments (water quality, food...) are highly critical in farmed fish. For the production of many carnivorous species, adaptation to plant-based diets, for example is a challenge for the sustainability of the production system.

The recent development of high throughput genomic tools and the existence of original genetic resources offer new opportunities to explore genetic determinants of robustness in fish. The successful candidate will develop research to elaborate an operational description of the genetic structure of phenotypic plasticity and robustness for further development of robustness selection methodologies adapted to the fish selection processes. Skills in (high throughput) genetic and genomic data analysis and in statistics, knowledge in quantitative genetics and animal breeding as well as the ability to work in a team would be desirable.

Location:

  • INRA, UMR GABI, 78350 Jouy-en-Josas, France (Paris region)
